Daoism…or something else

I’m trying to figure out how this universe works.

Although not given to religious thinking, I do recognize an intelligence operating behind the scenes, an organizing force that permeates this creation.

It seems to me, everything we can know follows some pretty basic laws, not bent or broken under ordinary events. But I’ve witnessed a couple of times when the physical laws were suspended.

So, as strict as these laws appear, I suspect there is some intelligence with an interest in delaying the normal elemental forces for a purpose beyond my understanding.

I have no problem with the concept of God, but I find the notion confusing if I listen to people discussing their religious beliefs. There are some thirty-six Hindu Gods, each with specific powers. The Greeks and Romans had a chief God, either Zeus (Greek) or Jupiter (Roman), and a pantheon of lesser deities. Christians and Moslem have one each.

And the notion of God comes with a lot of baggage we humans have attached to the name.
