Strangely, I got to a point where I enjoyed sending out query letters for my novel, even though I expected rejection letters. After submitting a query letter to one agency, I received a form rejection two hours later. I wrote back that was the quickest rejection I received since, as a freshman in high school, I asked a senior cheerleader to the prom.
To my surprise, the agent wrote back that she didn’t even read my letter (email), but just clears her emails every Monday and mine arrived in time to be tossed without opening.
I applaud her honesty.
Nice article, Margery. Thanks for posting.
