From what I read, a lot of wood is from Canada, and two severe drought years, with warmer than normal winters, left the forests susceptible to a bark beetle and forest fires. Add the increase in usage during the Pandemic of folks at home and building decks, cabinets, and porches, it created the perfect storm.
